Civil rights are a necessity. History has proven that. What is NOT necessary is violating someone elses right telling them who, what, how they conduct their business and thoughts as long as its within the confines of legality. Should I choose to not do business with liberals, thats my choice. But I can see a whiney flivorous lawsuit claiming discrimination. I would laugh at that.

If you want to cherry pick smaller parts of the definition so you can misapply the term, I can't stop you. But you can't stop me from pointing how your interpretation of the term is wrong. And misapplying the term devalues it.

You'd probably be surprised by many things. You think I'm liberal: what most conservatives don't know is that their politics would fit into the definition of classical liberalism. In the sad state of affairs today the term 'liberal' has been turned into a smear, an insult, a lable meant to tarnish, and many conservatives would flip out if you called them a liberal because of that. But classical liberals they are.


Your response (and a few others) to being told you were bad boys was way overblown. The thread was racially tinged, some said so, you and a few others responded by acting guilty and antagonizing those who said 'this is not cool.' It was Nixonian in that the cover up was worse than the crime, with the intellectual dishonesty and overblown response. And it continues.


This is muddled logic. You acknowledge that civil rights are a necessity, great. However, the Civil Rights Act does not allow a place of business serving the public to discriminate based on race, creed, religion, etc. You seem to think the opposite: that a business owner can discriminate. You then claim it is your 'choice' to discrimate against a liberal (not a right), but despite your categorization that it would be whiney and frivolous, by your own admission the lawsuit would have merit.

i did get very fired up about being called a bigot and racist by ignorant big papa when he is being the definition of a bigot. i will post again:

The dispute here basically comes down to, do we honor the Civil Rights Act and support it, or not?

Someone's decision to sell to whoever he wants to, isn't much different than decision to hire whoever we wants. 

What if this were different context. Say this was the only Gas station or Foodmart in town and he says he won't sell to anyone but Right-winged christians....is that okay? What if you were the one Jewish or Mormon or Jehovah Witness family in town.....you still say "more power to him". You want to "empower discrimation"?

Calling each other Bigots is sort of irreleavant, everyone here is standing behind THEIR point of view and opinion about the topic, defending it. That doesn't make someone a bigot in my opinion.

Interesting. The OP and the video clearly does have a racial element ('non-Christian Arabs) as I have pointed out, yet you continue to ignore that.

You have also not answered specific points I made with regards to your initial post. Were you being antagonistic to the bigot, or to people who take issue with him? I asked questions and have not received an answer, so I'm left to believe the latter, especially since you believe he has some right to discriminate.

This is a serious statement with only a tinge of sarcasm. You say you're not racist or a bigot, and I can take you at your word, but I'm left with the impression that you support his right to discriminate and are antagonistic towards people who disagree with that point. In other words, I'm searching for clarification to make sure I understand where you are coming from. I'm not getting any clarification, just assertions unrelated to my question, and a bunch of aggro stuff. 

And I'm being called a bigot. You don't understand the term, you are calling the wrong person a bigot. That would apply to Ranger, he obviously has issues with liberals, real or imagined. Since I am open to different opinions of my own by the record of engaging in a dialoge not devolving into trite smears and memes (such as calling anybody a redneck or pejoratives), then by your interpretation, I am not a bigot.

I have brought the term forth and clarified why I applied it, and no clarification has been returned. Only 'No, you're a bigot, see! Maybe you should consider clarifying what your point really was instead of being reactionary and erroneously calling me a bigot.

But for your last assertion about 'hiding behind a screen' is nothing more than false bravado. If you really want to know who I am it would take little effort. But in the end, it doesn't matter. What makes us who we are is what we say and believe. So it doesn't get much 'real' and honest as this.
