I have application using a Denon AVCA1SR (uk model) amplifier and a Denon DVDA11 Dvd player.

They are going to be remotely located from each other about 10 - 15 metres.

I am currently speccing the cables but would like to know the best connections to use to get the best picture quality.
What cables should I run?

The projector is a Runco VX4000Ci which has DVI input.
I beleive both units also have the Denon link facility.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

cmo,

what does the rest of the system consist of? Besides the DVD, is there some sort of satellite or cable box, VCR, etc...

and do any of the pieces you're using have DVI out.

Also, at last check, the PROCESSOR that comes with the runco doesn't have DVI, just the projo.

For a while, there was an issues with DVI over the distances you mention, but I believe most of those have been solved, up to about 50 feet.

Still, you should cable for the future, and for the possibilty of a different projo down the road. Many projectors these days look GREAT with no external scaler, so you'd be shoprt changing yourself and your customer if the cables weren't all at least in the ceiling. I would run the following: DVI, RGBHV, S-VIDEO, and a cat-5e for control. You could throw a single coax in there as well for composite video.

good luck!

Hi avdude,

The system is as follows:

Main components:

Denon DVDA11 Dvd
Denon AVCA1SR
Sky + sat (european sat)
Imerge 2 zone soundserver
Poss HD sat (although this is limited over here)

Projector:

Runco VX4000ci
Stewart Vertical elecrimask 10ft screen

Controller:

Crestron CP2E
Crestron TPS3000

Speakers:

Sonance Cinema Ultra 2 in-wall fronts (in custom enclosure angled down)
Sonance Cinema surrounds
Sonance Cinema Sub (in enclosure) or M&K MX350

In addition to this is a Fujitsu 63" plasma for everyday tv progs.
Lighting is Lutron and Blackout blinds are Silent Gliss.

Second zone is in a swimming pool / sauna area with Sonance Ultra speakers / Crestron TPS2000 / Aquavision LCD (waterproof) tvs and so on.

The Dvd player is located in the middle of the room (clients request) for easy access as well as some additional games machines - PS2 / XBox.

The AV amplifier is located in a corner cupboard along with the rest of the components (mid Atlantic pull out racking).

The projector is located in a ceiling enclosure about 4.5 metres from the screen.

I understand the HD sat may also have DVI (HDMI) - I presume we should wire the DVI cable back to the AV amplifier (cupboard) location and locate some sort of DVI switcher here for future use.

If I need to run 50ft for the DVI then have you experienced a successful way of doing this?

I guess my other question was whether to use the Denon link from the DVD player to the Amplifier.

I'm sure we should allow for additional digital cables for the games machines although maybe I should introduce some sort of switcher in the centre console.

What is your experience of the VX4000Ci as I have only previously installed the VX1000 but needed a much shorter throw which the VX4000ci offers.

Thanks greatly for your assistance.
