Has anyone crossed projector light paths? I have a church application where I have about a 40ft throw and the projectors light path will cross about 25 ft from the projector. How much quality and light output do I lose if any? Thanks for the help.

As long as the light paths cross each other they will not affect each others output. Try this experiment to help you understand.

Take a flashlight and shine it on a wall. Now take a second and shine it through the others on an opposite wall. You will see that neither of the flashlights light output is affected by the two light paths crossing.

Now I've never done this, but your example has a flaw in my mind. (I'm not saying the crossing projectors is bad.. I really have no idea.....)

What if you cross a flashlight with a Bluw bulb with a Flashlight that has a Red bulb?

I would think they would not be affected by each other, but that would be a better test in my book.

In my opinion, there will be no effect at all. My CRT projector has three light sources that converge at the screen, but don't cause any anomolies where they cross.

You can cross any two colors you want. They will not affect each other. If they did affect each other you would still see it with white light that's why you can use 2 flashlights in the demonstration.

Focused (directed) light is not interupted by light that runs perpendicular (across) it. Only light that travels in the same path.

If light 'crossing paths' created anomalies, we would see the world in a very different way.

I must disagree. I once had to cross light paths on a high light output DLP and a CRT projector. The result was two horrible bastard offsprings:

I the light is not leaving the projected image and messing up the other one, then you will be fine.

If you mix red, green, and blue paint you will get "black" where they mix. The rest will remain red green and blue or some variation depending on the mix.

If you shine red, green, and blue light on a white wall, you will get "white" where they mix. The rest will remain red green and blue or some variation depending on the mix.

Now put a fog machine in the room and you'll have invented holographic projection.

Jay, one thing: The primary colors of pigment are red, yellow, and blue. Remember playing with crayons and mixing yellow and blue to get green?

Would you happen to have a mall near you that has the simulated NASCAR racing? If so, go race but more importantly than having fun, look at the three CRT's that they are using for the simulated video. They cross paths and it doesnt seem to effect the video. Anyone else seen these 'games'? I just dont see how crossing the light streams would have an adverse affect on the images being displayed. If you were trying to converge the images from both proj's at the same time you may have issues but IMO you should be fine.
