Have you guys noticed...
Better
Wrose
Same
performance from the new NG Pro when it comes to the use of the RFX6000? I ask because I have had some odd results recently. Like the system works just fine then suddenly stops. I walk over to the RFX and watch it as I press my button the 7000 and there is no blink at all. Then It will suddenly decide to listen and work. Also it seems I run into problems with interferance from nearby things more often now. Requiring moving the 6000 farther away from things like elctric and even cabinates.

Anyone else having similar problems?

I had similar problems with the RFX-6000 on one installation I replaced it with an MRF-100 from universal remote control and everything worked fine. Another time I had to have the RFX-6000 quite a distance away from the equipment to get a good signal. So I routed the one of the emitters to a connecting block and then used the emitters from the connecting block for the devices. It worked fine.

Hope this helps.

Hey Bob,

Yeah I have done the cut the cords and use cat-5 to get longdistances over to lights and projectors. It does save me from time to time.

What I am noticing more and more is that I have to move the 6000 further and further away from electrical strips. The other odd ball one is that some time the RFX just doesn't respond with the remote sitting on it. can't figure that out. Then it suddenly works... Pisses me off in the field to have hours of my work brought down by a $150 repeater.

Will the MRF accept signals from a Pronto TSU7000? What extender address does the Pronto need to be set to? You used it with a Pronto successfully right? That is what I think I just saw.

Hi,

The MRF just seems to repeat whatever is sent to it on that frequency. It doesn't matter what channel you send it on it just passes everything on. It also improves the Pronto's range. It works with both the 3000 and the 7000. Unfortunately, it makes using another Pronto with similar equipment elsewhere in the house not feasible.

Thaks for the feed back...

Let me make sure I got this thou...

The will spit out IR no matter what channel I have the TSU 7000 on. Is that correct? So none of the channel IDs make the slightest bit of differance?

I am getting just pissed when it come to the RFX. It seems to only work well once I take it out of the cabinate. CLose proximity to walls and I am F'ed. Try channel after channel and nothing. Then I get that fun issue with the no signal to it when I have the 7000 butted up against it.

Can't tell if its straight interferance at the 6000 or if the RF section on the 7000 just sucks.

You have it correct. If you are getting a lot of stray RF then the MRF picks that up too. If it is RF interference then the status light would be lit on the MRF. The RFX's LED might blink with RF interference or it might not. The RFX is tougher to use to diagnose RF problems.

Hope this helps

Bob

Thanks for the help Bob.

Boss picked up a MRF so I can try this out.

LAst 2 days I have had to mount the RFX under the couch were the person sits and run a CAT over to the rack. That works 100% so I may do similar things more often and not even bother to try to get it in the cbinate.

The other day i was digging in my car and found an old RFX. The ones that were in the blue box. Well I installed that thing in the cabinate and it got signal from clear across the house. No glitches and not a hint of interferance. I know its probably just enviornment but it made me wonder if the RFX used to be a litte more sensative.

Hey it works... customer is happy... boss got paid... what more is there?

What more? After going through all this, YOU got paid!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I always forget that part.

Yeah Its funny how when the busy season is going you kind of notice the boss is behind on payment. But when you have nothng to do... YOU REALLY NOTICE THAT YOU HAVE NOT BEEN PAID IN A WHILE!

I had some real problems recently with an RFX6000. I think that it's likely that some units could be calibrated differently than others. And if they are not bang on with the frequency with the transmitter, then results might vary. It's the helical antenna inside the unit that I found can make a munumental difference in performance. The space between the windings can be changed by compressing it or expanding it which changes performance considerably. When it works, it's great thing. When it doesn't, it's a nightmare. You spend hours designing a system around a piece of gear that basically controls it all and it has to be rock solid and reliable 100% of the time otherwise its a disaster. I know the feeling.

Keep the RFX away from the gear. Works like a charm when put in the bsmt rafters or the attic( near the seating position). Otherwise there are too many variables (power supply's, Fans etc. ) that can ruin a good time.
