We put in an IW-22 and I'm 99% sure I set everything up correctly, but I can't control the iPod from its front panel while it's docked. I set the rs232 switch to "general control" and there is no control system installed at all. Just have the balanced audio plate connected to power and audio into a DSP.

Is there a trick to enabling basic control, or did I do something wrong?

I remotely programmed an iPort for CF a while back and I remember that being the case I think. No front screen control while it was docked and I was telneted in to it.

We have whatever came in the IW-22 box... the Default Control Mode Switch switch is set to "Dis" (unless I screwed up and knocked it back to "En" while installing it).

We went with the 22 because a control system was up in the air. Still is, in fact. But need front panel control either way.

I sent an email off to the person I remote programmed the IW for. I do remember the protocol not being pretty.

They probably say "Hi, this is Sonance, how can I help you?"

But seriously, haven't called yet, only even remembered this problem AFTER work... (look at my post times...) still catching up to stuff from 3 days ago.........

(but seriously, your post reminded me to check their website for an email link and I just emailed them... )

I have FS22 in the showroom RS232 to a Elan g! system and have no problem running apps on the iPod touch while it is docked and streaming music....i can actually run the control app and control the iPod through the GUI.....not very fast but it works and asks for deep thoughts.....

Tech support said that if the rs232 card is installed it will lock out the front panel, and that it was something to do with how Apple 'allows' the dock to work?

I dunno, but for mine I'm just going to pull the 232 card out...
