Good afternoon Gents,

Was hoping someone could tell me where I can get Sony XBR equip. from (and a decent price to compete with the big box stores). I've got a customer who is one of those diehard Sony people, and I would like to get him the TV he really wants. Thanks in advance for any and all help!!!!

XBR & ES lines are strictly regulated and are avaliable only direct to the dealer. There is no Distribution.

Before my company became SOny dealers we bought them from the big box store (NFM) at a contrator price. But only because we had to.

Too bad Sony bought the rights to the inline color guns with the apperature grill. Ever since they think their sh*t don't stink and they can treat the rest of us like peasants. Profit margins on the XBR, at least in my area, have dwindled to the point where, well, what's the point.

And why would we want a manufacturer that could give us an eta on our order? Sony doesn't.

Never mind that. They are closing service centers faster than Clinton finds new girlfriends. Dated? Faster than Bush Jr. finds new enemies.

Sony "parts central" is manned by pure, untainted by TV knowlege, order takers. You can't get an eta here either.

In short, their direct view CRT devices are great. Their other products can usually be beat, and often badly.

My recommendation is to steer your customers away from anything offered by Sony other than the 40" and smaller direct view sets. You will likely have to give up the profit on those, but rejoice in the fact that the seller isn't making any money either.
