I have an installation where the projector (Runco VX1000) has to be mounted in the ceiling which, due to the layout of the room and supporting beam across the center means that the projector will be fairly close to the listening position.
This will no doubt have noticeable fan noise which may be distracting.
Does anyone have any tips or advice which they have used successfully to reduce the noise of a projector.
It can be enclosed if necessary although it will still require a fair amount of ventilation.
Thanks.

cmo, What we have done is install a hush box..It is an acoustic panel box..Certain Teed duct board wrapped with appropriate color cloth for the room.. We use a dryer hose type stuffed into the box, then a muffin fan to pull the heat out hopefully located well away from the room, so you don't have to hear that fan..This works well in most enviroments..The muffin fan after about 20 feet will draw all the heat out of the box..Test with a lighter and fan on to check draw..if flame really curves hard toward dryer hose your in business..Of course you will want a good seal on the hose and fan..I am sure I am overstating some obvious stuff..but that seems a requirement here sometimes..LOL..

THXRick A much more resourceful, and certainly more afforable solution, to active thermal's, which I will link to here, although...depending on time of day, month, and moon phase, their web-site may or may not look and act like shit! [Link: activethermal.com][Link: activethermal.com][Link: activethermal.com]we use these...they work...they are silent (in enclosures) and they are expensive (to the end user!) good luck avdude site admin www.integrationpros.com

Avdude, Thanks for the link those are cool..CMO..again We use duct board if the fiberglass is facing in and the silver out..The inside of this box is virtually silent..That is to DLP's anyway..You ever hear the diffrence between a metal based HVAC system in a commercial building (no ducted board) and one that is..the acoustical properties of duct board are amazing..Dont take my word for it,ask THX,acoustic innovations, acoustics first, etc. etc.

Thanks guys,
Consider the problem solved.
Of course the projector won't be going in for about a month but I like to plan ahead and eliminate any potential issues before they arise.

Do you build the hush box so the lense sticks out the box or do you use some kind of plexi or glass? I don't know if you could build the box so the lense is outside with an infocus as their fans are in the front of the projector. I assume this is not the case with the Runco line as Infocus are the only ones to make such a poor design.
