Situation;
Customer has a Channel Plus 5445 4 input modulator distributing audio/video to 8 television. The modulator passes through the DA8200-BID (beleive that is correct model number, out to the 8 televisions. The power for the amp comes from the modulator. Right now the customer has basic cable, so the modulated sinals display on channels 123-125. There are no cable boxes at all, the feed (coax) goes directly to the televisions. Of course everything works fine now, but they want to switch to satellite. What will be the easiest way to continue to provide the modulated signals over the single coax going to each television and be able to receive the satellite singal to the same television(s). Also what application would you do if they had the same setup, but had the Digital cable boxes at each tv, instead of the satellite receivers. Hope I made sense of this. Any help would be appreciated.

Easiest way is to Diplex the Modulated channels with the Satellite signal. They'll just have to switc back to the cable/antenna input when viewing the modulated channels. Or better yet, sell them receivers that will integrate the Cable cahnnels into the same guide as the satelite system. I know the LG LSS3200a/Sony HD300 do this, but I dont know if any basic receievrs do...

For the satellite setup you would use diplexors to combine the modulated rf signal and the signal coming from the dish onto one wire, then split it out at the tv,stb location. For the digital cable, that depends on what frequency your cable co sends the digital info on. In our area they put it from about channels 105-110. So we get a low pass filter that crosses on 116 and send the modulated channels in the range similar to what you have now(118-125). In other areas they put the digital in the 80-90 range though. The cable co usually isn't too helpful in telling you the frequency setup so you might need to get several different lp filters and experiment to see when the digital gets blocked.

Thanks for your help. One last question. Would I need a diplexer for each tv location that has a sat. receiver.
The setup is like this:
Family Room- is where the modulator is.
Distribution closet- where the 3x8 amp
So if they get say 4 tv's with satellites and put in a multiswitch for the 4 sat. recievers, what location does the diplexer go, at each tv or at the panel. Thanks again

If you have a 3x8 switch, you have a diplexer built into that side already.. You will need a diplexer at each TV.
