I have been doing programming on Prontos literally for years now and has worked very well. However lately I have been getting strange problems not restricted to a PE version or model Pronto.

Example: I have a system consisting of a Hughes HD receiver (no discrete on/off)Denon AVR-3803,Denon 900,Sony VCR, Panasonic Professional 50" Plasma, Xantech sytem with 490-90 Plasma friendly IR receiver

Ok anyway I have discretes for all except the hughes as noted. Not really a tricky program lots of custom icons and such however straight forward programming. Anyway when programming in PENG (this example) I program the Denon 3803 on & off buttons test the codes of course in PENG turns on/off very reliably. Finsh program DL into TSU-3000 bam all done right....wrong! Everything turns on just great but the Denon 3803 doesnt...hmmmm, I go to the receiver page on the 3000 hit the on button...nothin, even though it tested fine in PENG. Ok well this is nothing new in PE so I go back in delete the entire device and rebuild it fresh make me a new page new buttons, program, test,...NP! Unhook try it..same problem doesnt work outside of PE. Ok enough of this shit I create a new device leaving behind the receiver pager because the device buttons/ volume/ mute work fine just not the on/off. Go back into the homepage redo the device macros...bam works great np!

Here is my long winded question this is a new problem to me and have actually seen it prop up in 1 other instance using a TSU2000 and PE4 and a different computer. Of course even though I dont want to believe it's me I am sure not infailable. Since the only constant here is me I have to wonder is there something I am doing wrong. I have done literally hundreds of them now as well as own a few of my own and I dont have the problem nor any other customers.

Well ok boys it's up for grabs hit me with your best shot...any ideas?

Are you larning coded through the software??? THat has been discussed as a no no in lots of threads.. What if you learn the comand right into the ronto and test it???

There are lots of hiccups int he software interface learning.

Yet you mention a problem that I ran into in the oddest way -- that it is possible to have good codes for the Denon, at least the 3802, that don't ALL control properly.

I taught the commands to the TSU6000 -- not through the computer, never through the computer -- and the whole thing worked well. Except that the plasma was in a different room, so the next step was to integrate the IR system. When I installed the Audioplex Stealth 4056 sensor and wired it per instructions, everything seemed to work perfectly until the customer called the next day to say that hecould not turn on his unit and why didn't the volume work? The Denon's Power On and volume up and down commands did not work! Power Off worked! I could even turn on the Denon by hand and do everything else. Only those three commands did not go through the system!

I ended up finding a highly WRONG (according to Audioplex) way to wire the output of the Stealth's little black box that worked. Relearning codes made no difference. It might have been a case of too much or too little IR, but ONLY THOSE THREE commands were affected!

I am with Impaqt fully about learning through the software. No matter how good the software is, if you learn and test using it, you are introducing one more variable between the original remote and the finished product. Wish it weren't so, but I have never learned through the program and I have seen post after post where people have problems and oh, yes, we learned the commands through PE or PENG.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I had a similar problem a couple of weeks ago with a TSU6000 and a Adcom GTP830. I was never able to track down the problem to my satisfaction but I reloaded the PE and everything returned to normal. I could speculate but it would come down to assumption at some point. Just another X File.

Thanks for the responces guys! I wish I could say that I would be that rookie but no I didnt learn them in the software and never have since I learned on the 1000 that wasn't the way to fly. It really didn't matter how many times I tried and even added extra on & off buttons under the reciever page but as long as I tried it anywhere on that device it wouldn't work. As soon as I created a new device (tuner) it worked great and still is. It is just one of those little problems that haunts me, always in the back of my mind I am wondering when and if those codes in the tuner are going to do the same thing! Oh well another mystery in the world of philips...go figure!

Did you check to see if that device was set for RF?

i have had a lot of luck by learning throught the software. it seems a hundred times more reliable than through the remote. i also find it a little easier - but thats arguable. give it a try! also, you might want to quarduple check or have someone else check that you are linking to the proper button with the correct code. i do that sometimes with volume buttons.
