Installation Scenario: -(2) 50" Sampo Plasmas (Greatroom & Masterbedroom) - All equipment is in a closet and controlled w/ IR Systems - Component video is ran w/(3) RG-6Q cables w/F to RCA Adapters, cabling is about 50' long to each location. - Plasma Component video is switched between RCA Satellite Reciever & Pioneer DVD w/o progressive scan threw a Denon AVR883. - I am using a RCA DirecTv HD reciever in Greatroom, & RCA Full Featured DirecTv Reciever in Master.
The problem is that their are light colored scan lines that travel slowly up the screen on both tvs w/ both Satellite & DVD. Also my elevation here is 5000' if that makes any differnce.
Thanks, Scott

Sounds like a 60Hz AC hum. Try RF chokes around the power cord and the signal cords. This has worked for me in the past.

Ditto. Espcially if the lines could more accurately be decribed as areas of light and dark that slowly scan upward. I have seen actual stark lines only once, where an antenna amp's power supply was messed up, and the problem only showed up when viewing cable. So one thing to consider: does this happen on all inputs? If so, then it is not a problem with one input, but a problem with the wiring in general.
There are, most likely, two grounds, actual connections of the chassis to ground, in your system. One is often the plasma, as they all, as far as I have seen, have three-wire power cords. The other one? Could be the cable, a dish, even (but unlikely if this is all consumer gear) another component.
Check out jensentransformers.com. They have a GREAT white paper on running down where the hum is coming from.

i've had the same problems on plasmas also. found out there was a ground problem in the electric. i used a panamax kit which gives an "isolated ground" - the problem disappeared.

I would go with the Panamax solution...it's also a great upsell for customers.

try and locate the source of the lines. I'm guessing it's the sat signal in. Try just disconnecting that and see what happens. All else fails try a line filter, you would need a component(approx $400) filter which goes in line betweeen the denon and the plasma. Jensen iso-max george

Thanks for all the suggestions, I'm interested in the RF Chokes. What are they and where can I get my hands on them. I would like to try to avoid the panamax kit because I would have to do some pretty extensive retrofitting.
Thanks, Scott

Most plasmas I've seen come with the Ferrite core chokes... Just gotta pull them out of the box and slap them onthe power cord...
If your TV didnt come with them or they are now in the bottom of a dumpster, Radio Shack should have a selection.
