BOSE won't use it cause THEY didn't design it,
couldn't design it (limited engineering capabilities...OBVIOUSLY)
and can't make money by offering it....they still
offer only FAKE versions of DD, and NO DTS...

PISS OFF

avdude

Thank you for your considered reply avdude

Firstly you are quite right Bose are as bad as you say they are compared to other brands.
Secondly Bose now have proper versions of DD and DTS (logos on the bottom of the bass modules) on new models LS28, 35 again you are quite right older models had there own “fake” versions.
Thirdly you are quite right this is not the place for me to post this is for custom installers.

And finally because of all the above points I will do as you suggest and P**S off.

Thank you for tolerating my existence

ILOVE BOSE

yes... I admit it... I sold out and installed a Bose system because a client would not settle for ANYTHING else. I could have walked away but this also led to a $40,000.00 Tech lighting sale. God I love good stuff as much as anyone but I also love watching my kids eat. The dilemma was easily solved with $$$$$ and now that I am outed (god I feel like Ellen Degeneres), I guess I'll move on. I would have liked to see Avdude's face when that box arrived though!

late night bill, i think you misread something. HDMI does have audio and video, video up to 1080i and 720p, and audio up to 192k for 8 channels. PLUS the control abilities.

This connection makes a lot of sense where dvi makes a lot of sense, (it's even compatible in the video portion with dvi, a simple adaptor works) in situations where the signal can be kept 100% digital. DVD players to plasmas, hd sat boxes to dlp projectors etc. However, i have a dv59avi (pioneer elite) and a pro530hdi (elite as well) each having hdmi, the dvd player has 720p and 1080i outputs thus bypassing the tv's internal scaler and streamlining the digital signal (reducing one a to d, d to a conversions in the set) and even though my final picture is analog (from the tubes of course) the picture is absolutely amazing. I did not expect a whole lot from it, but i have honestly never seen dvd look better on a rear projection (NRS's and farouja rptv's included).

It quickly became a big seller for us, and now pioneer is done making rptv's, and that sucks.

In my application no audio is used (i use pioneer's ilink to connect to the rcvr), and i have not messed with control as it's all in my tsu7000 anyway.

But the picture payoff alone is worth it.

If you would like the wrath of Avdude to rain down upon you with insults galore then sell out like I did. Some people can't be saved from bad Hi-fi and the ones who have enough cash and can't be... oh well, someones gonna take their money. I feel that if you use it as supplemental and last resort than what the heck.

And I will give raves to their custom solutions group techs who have been VERY helpful and nice while explaining this ratsnest of wiring that makes up the BuiltInvisible line.

Should I take this somewhere else?... I believe Wolf started this thread with HDMI and got pissed at the fact that it got derailed into a bloody Bose butt monkey forum. Sorry Wolf... I promise to waste no more type here as I have nothing good to add to the HDMI thread.

NEXT... HDMI...GO!
