I have a customer that is going to have 1 main theater room and 2 small theaters. His distribution for telephone/cable/ethernet is going to be in basement. He wants to distribute the audio/video from the main theater to the other 2 theaters. Any suggestions on what would be the best way. I dont know how many sources he will want distributed.

Any suggestions appreciated.

What kind of video sources will you be distributing, composite, s-video, component, etc? Are you doing this on a budget?

Not sure what video sources, more than likely component or composite. No budget as of right now. I was thinking of throwing out the idea of simple channel modulator with 4 analog audio and video. Think this would work, if customer is cool with that.

There really is one basic limitation that a modulated system has...two, really...you can't distribute digital audio and you can'd distribute component video. If your customer wants to stay at that level of technology until the next time he decides to open up the walls (push push push sell sell sell), then modulated signals are fine. Note that modulated signals can be hard to use as the upper channels of cable now are pretty much filled with digital cable and the UHF channels are also pretty filled...so you can't have four or five channels like you used to be able to without killing some cable or UHF frequencies.

If you want to stick with higher quality, Audio Authority has a piece that can take one component, one composite, and two audio and distribute them to five locations...plus bridge out to more of the same unit if needed.

You could distribute component and use the NTSC in/out to distribute coaxial audio in order to deliver digital sound to the other rooms along with analog audio through the other two channels.

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

BOZ, Digital audio and component video can be distributed a few ways..First of course with price not being a factor,Crestron is very capable of sending audio/video/and digital inputs over cat5 up to 8 locations..To a breakout box commonly refered to as an RMC or room solution box.. Cost coming in to it channel plus a few years ago did say they were relesing some cool stuff, you will have to research this..Then audio control just relased a 2 box system that allows you send Component and digital over cat5 up to 1000 feet..Realizing of course you will need a pair per times you wish to distibute, and video amps of some kind as well.

Key digital has a distribution amp that is pretty resonably priced. Will distrubte Component, SDPIF, and ANalog audio(R&L) to 4 Locations. Works great for anything you need to distribute Digital audio and Video.
