For you guys who know security I need some assistance.
I'm going to install an Elan Via system soon and the homeowner has a quote for an Ademco system using a Vista 20 Control Panel with the following list of components:
815 siren
6128 pads
945/5150 Ademcon/ Sentrol sensors
Ademco 900sensors
Ademco 945sensors
Ademco 2145 Dual Tek sensors
I need to know if I can just tell the homeowner that they need to just tell the security company to exchange the Vista20 to a Apex Destiny 6100 and the rest of the list is still good(less the pads) or does everything need to be changed? Sold customer on the one pad convience the Via offers not knowing he already had security bid and might change his mind if switching to the 6100 increases his cost significantly above the $2 grand quote he got.
Also is there any thing besides the rs232 interface modual need to hook up this systems?
thanks for any advice you can offer. this is first install tieing in with a security system.

All the sensors, etc. should work fine, but don't quote me on that. You will need an Apex RS232 interface and an Elan SC4. You should spec at least one apex keypad as a backup and also for programming. You will need to program address 0155 to 009 in order for the integration to work.

The Apex Destiny 6100 uses the 6160 keypads, which have a mic and speaker inside. You will need a Seperate cat5 or 22/4 shielded to the keypad location to use them. While programmng the alarm, remember to activate the RS-232 port 2-way option.
The siren can be modified into a speaker for connection to the voice output or connected to the on-board relay for activation. The relay will have to be programmed accordingly.
I would install a speaker somewhere central in the house for the monitor beep/speech feature. This is has been very useful to everyone I have installed or programmed for.
You need to have the optional rs232 interface and the Elan SC-4 and you are ready to program.

Thansk guys. I appreciate the input. I already have the SC4 on the Build sheet. Saw the RS232 interface option on the Apex site. Sammsound. Do you do Apex/Ademco or do you know a good security I can get bid from? I noticed your in West Caldwell. I'm in Florham Park. Ping me offline when you get a chance.
