Just got off the phone with my "old" Samsung distributor (to remain nameless).

Was told that he'll be a Sammy distributor, but the he'll no longer be able to service my territory.

Although his company is in the east, his territory will be in the west.

Man, this Sammy distribution set up is gonna get a bit weird.

Yup, sure is. I went to meet Western today and he told me that Sammy is cutting off most of its independent dist. (NOT RENEWING THEIR CONTRACT is the PC answer), and focusing on more of the big box retailers. I had a connection at Circuit City that gave me a pretty good price on the tv's, but he is no longer with the company. This is sooooooo much fun, trying to make a living and playing the game at the same time. YYYYEEEEEEEEE HHHHHHAAAAAAAWWWWWWW

My understanding from the distributor that I spoke with, is that there will now be 9, yes he said 9, distributors for the now 9 territories across the country, and that 4 of them will be east coast based in the same state.

One thing I heard made good sense though.

This person mentioned that no distributor will be allowed to sell to internet vendors, or do internet sales themselves (something I've long suspected).

Of course BB, CC and the like will continue to sell via the net, but at least those companies aren't complete internet whores.

Another bad thing about the Samsung distribution shakeup, my local (AZ) AVAD told me they were getting the line to replace their Mitsubishi product that went away.

Now THAT does bite!

Well, I hear that DBL will be on the list. Maybe they'll carry more of the line? If so, their price will be FAR less than AVAD for sure.

Who is DBL?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

In the distribution realignment with Samsung, they did give the line to AVAD distributors.....however, it seems that absolutely none of the product has discrete codes except for power on & off. I wrote yesterday regarding the file in the ProntoPro section that declared it was discrete codes for everything, however, the on / off were the only valid ones. Besides, has anyone really taken a close look at this product line in regarding picture quality? It's not even funny how bad this stuff is..........and even with proper picture alignment...........it is bad!

It's my understanding that Samsung HAS added discrete codes for on/off, as well as input. But then again, that was from a "factory rep", so it could have been just a little more of the typical rep BS.

Sorry to hear that you are having trouble locating a Samsung Distributor. Well, I work For Custom Plus Distributing. We still distribute Samsung and are located in seattle, WA. Samsung has been re-directing custom installers to us from out of our normal area due to the distributor re-arranging. I'm not sure about all of the details of their new distribution plan, but I would like to see If there is some way that I could help you out. Please do not view this as a solicitation for business. However, I might be able to answer some of your questions.
