Not just the JVC ones, All of those neet little 1/4 in. jacks on the backs of equipment.

Are they meant to be a direct IR input straight form a connecting block?

I always thought that they only worked with same-family products.

I've never tried

My life would be quite a bit happier if they are for IR

Brent, you could use those 1/8" jacks on most equipment, with the use of a Xantech IR interface module.
