Hi, I posted this on thegreenbutton website....

[Link: forums.thegreenbutton.com]

...and was directed here!

Basically when I use certain buttons on my philips (media center) remote it also sends a signal to my Sony tv to switch to channel 1. This is the only problem i`m having now after a few months of difficulty and its really bugging me!!

Any ideas anyone ??

You ought to go over to www.remotecentral.com and ask this question.

I would try it in one of the more active programmable remote forums (where copious knowledge of IR codes is necessary) like HTM or Pronto.

I am not being rude(sorry if it comes across as rude) but you might be better in another forum as the reply to your post said .This is the custom installer's forum

Huh???? I would say this is he perfect ofrum for that problem.........

It seems that the philips media center shares some IR codes with his SOny TV. Not unheard of........

1: Are you using a Universal remote of some sort?
If so, try to track with button is causing the TV to switch to CH 1. Its posible that the code was learned wrong and needs to be re-learned.

2: If the behavior is exibitied with the Factory remotes, then your going to need to set up some sort of IR Routing. If your using a Pronto 3000/6000/7000 then you can get a couple RX-77's and address them separately for each componant.

A Universal MX-800 would also be a great option as it has a 6-way IR router built in.

Another option is the Xantech RT-8.

Hope that gets ya started.

I dont use any kind of universal remotes (also dont know any of the technical stuff that goes with them), thats whats weird. It seems strange that I cant find anyone eles with this problem tho. I dont really wanna get a universal remote as this remote cost me quite a bit.

Just to confirm this is the remote i`m using:-

If your using factory remotes and that problem has arisien, you probobly out of luck.

I see this on occation....... Loewe TV's and Marantz Receivers share some overlapping IR Codes... So do the RUnco VHD Processors with Yamaha DVD Changers...

I know sony TV do not have any alternate command sets... I doubt the Media Center will either....

Looks like your options are limited here. an MX-800 would brobobly be a very good investment at this point to help correct the situation.
