Hello,

I know alot of HVAC Thermostats can be controlled through RS232, but can any be controlled through IR? How do you control HVAC through a pronto or any other remote?

With the problems associated with IR do you really want to do this. 232 is the way to go

AVDude, I did search, but didnt find any real clear information in the one previous thread. Anyway, I'm guessing the only option would be Xantant's IR-RS232, the only reason I dont want to use that Is a go through Russound. Furthermore, alot of the stuff I install have Ir-mini plug inputs, and I've have alot of success with those as opposed to flashers. Anyway, I guess there isn't really a solution I was looking for available, what do you guys usually use when you want to program a pronto to controll HVAC?

You could look into the X-10 controlled t-stats. The Pronto can control X-10 trough an IR543. May not be the best way to go but it is an option.
