skip DLP - the rear projection's are overpriced and look poor with standard definition broadcasts. And definately don't get a rear projection LCD - I can't even believe they make those...horrible. If you can darken the room go CRT...still looks the best...if the room is too brignt go Plasma or wait for the next generation of 40+" LCD panels to be released by Sharp.

Have seen that RCA a few times in Best Buy and can't believe how bad it looks. The samsung sitting next to it beats it to death without looking too close. Look closely and you almost laugh at how bad the RCA looks. Infocus designed light engine... whatever... looks like $h!+.

Bill,

ALTP...

Avoid Like The Plague

btw, infocus had NOTHING to do with the light engine, or any design feature!

Just installed a RCA DLP today (COE) and right off the bat we had problems. The component video inputs (3,4) did not output anything - ever. The cable signal was okay and composite video was decent. The set ended up defective and had to be swapped. Don't bother. If you want to really do DLP rear proj. go Samsung.

Why not skip the rear projecton DLP and go to front projection? For almost the same money you could have like a 140+" screen!?

JBJ...

you're smoking crack!

For what the RCA DLP RPTV's cost...you can buy a good LENS for some projectors!

NO WAY you can do a 140" screen AND a projo, that will look any better for under 10K (and the RCA is about 3.5K at last check!)

a 140" screen alone cost anywhere from 1500-2200, depending on supplier!

J...

you're good, but not that good!

sorry..don't believe you could (or WOULD) provide an 140" Front Projection system, for less than the MSRP of the RCA DLP's

If you ARE though...please tell me how!

Trade secret man...that's why it's "custom"

- there are alternatives to multi thousand dollar screens

- new InFocus projectors are pretty damn cheap

- 3rd secret just 'cause I like ya...eBAY brotha!!

J...

Still don't buy it...

the MOST EXPENSIVE RCA SCENIUM DLP is $3499.00 MSRP...

an infocus DATA GRADE HDTV (TRUE HDTV...720P or higher) projo (at least that I can get DIRECT from infocus) is more than that DEALER COST...so, how can a HDTV InFocus (or any other brand) and ANY 140" screen go for less...at least at legit and moral prices?

Thanks for the info, I know there are plenty of other tvs in the price range that are alot better such as the Sony LCD but the customer just ask me about the RCA DLP because a buddy of his recommended it, I told him anything RCA was crap but wanted to hear some other opinions as well so as not to be so closed minded.

For almost the same money

I really meant a little more - a few hundred more and you up your size like 3x's

My point of view is that RPDLP is just o.k. - I'm not really a fan...I still like RPCRT...call me old fashioned...these artifacts produced from DLP LCD rear projection drive me nuts...especially in standard definition. So my thoughts are if you are going to make the sacrifice of getting a $3500 RPTV you might as well spend a few hundred more and have a gigantic front projection system...now since my pov is that I don't like DLP and LCD rear projection why not have a giant front projection DLP with a basic ass screen. For my clients it's a different story, I wouldn't spec a cheap screen - but it seemed he was asking for himself. I watched superbowl on a white wall and it was totally fine for ME! How's that for how I don't care about screens for myself!

Infocus had nothing to do with the RCA piece huh. Surprising, I swear I read it on multiple forums and thought that it was real info. That is why I was so shocked at the lousy picture.

Then again... it did say RCA... why was I surprised?
