So I have come to reality that sticking an emitter on the newer Xbox 360s is not the best solution. It seems the IR receiver is inside the sync switch. Kinda makes it a pain to push the button with an emitter stuck on it, eh?
Before I take this think apart and attempt to embed the emitter, you guys know of any other solutions? I would assume that somwhere there is a USB IR unit that will work with the new xboxes.
????
BTW, has anyone attempted to to embed one yet?
I keep pointing my remote at the turntable but, it never advances to the next track.
IIRC, I tested a MX880 with the 360 slim and was able to control it via IR. I did not go far enough to build it into the remote and put an emitter on it, but I am pretty sure it at least turned on and off.

You can control it very accurately but the discrete power codes require sending two unique codes back to back to emulate the toggle bit. Many of the transport and menu controls do not seem to care about the second half of the toggle bit code so in my experience I have only had to use them with power on/off.
I'm going to have to give this a try in the morning.
Come to think about it; I haven't had any issues at all with the menu controls. It's only the power on/off like you describe. This just might be the fix.

Without the two part toggle bit code you will only get power toggle depending on the quality of the learn. these are clean and tested so they should work accurately. Just make a macro with the IR codes back to back. I have thought about trying to merge the codes into one string to see if I can get it work but since I always embed my power commands as processor sub routines that application has not been a priority.
I have noticed a couple things with my XBOX360 and IR control. The power button / IR command will always turn it off when pressed, but only turns it on if you used IR to power it down the last time you turned it off. If you used the controller or a hard button press to shut it down, the only button I can use to power it up is the code from the Media Center button from the white Microsoft supplied remote.
I'm not sure if this has changed with the XBOX360 slim or not.... One other small thing I noticed. After I power it up via IR, the "right" command on the jog control for will not function until you press one of the other directions first.... I can see the code is being sent, so that's an XBOX thing.

The codes I posted may very well solve that. Most learned Xbox codes are junk because most learning systems cannot deal with the toggle bit codes they use.
Instead of dealing with the discrete power on command I just send the xbox com and and set repast at something crazy like 20. This turns it on. I never set it to power off because I would hate if I was in a game and it powered down.
