Has anyone else dealt with this setup? I have a customer whose Satellite receiver is VERY inconsistent when Tivo tries to change the channels. It misses digits almost 75% of the time. Example, 229 with become 29, 22, 2, etc. but rarely 229. I have tried all the different Tivo codes and different speeds and multiple IR emitters mounted at different distances and angles. Both if these components are located in the same cabinet and I have a Xantech repeater system setup for control of the Tivo and Satellite receiver. The repeater system works fine, only the Tivo controlling the satellite receiver is having troubles. This is the exact reason my Tivo is hooked to a receiver that can be serially controlled! Any insights?

I've played with speed of the IR codes and solved the problem you're describing in the past. Have you tried the slowest code available to see if it works at all?

I have tried that. Works pretty well when I am testing it using the Channel Up and Down, but it gets unreliable when I get into the 3 digit channel range on satellite. I wonder if the Tivo is overdriving the emitter and flooding out the receiver. Anyone know how strong the Tivo IR output is?

are there two emitters on the sat reciever? if so is the second emitter from a reciever near a plasma ? I had a problem with that setup once and it was interference feeding back through the second emitter. When i took the second emitter away it worked fine. I ended up puttting the second emitter a couple inches away.

There are two emitters on the satellite receiver. The IR receiver is outside the cabinet on a shelf about 5 feet from a Runco 61" plasma. The satellite receiver and the Tivo are in a closed but vented cabinet under the IR receiver. I am inclined to believe the second emitter is causing a problem, but I can't see how the Tivo emitter signal could be getting to the IR receiver in order to feed back to the second emitter. I have moved the second emitter a couple of inches away per your suggestions and will see how that works. My next step is to use only one emitter, a connecting block, and some diodes. Thanks for the input.
