I am looking for a cheap AV Rack with 3 or 4 shelves MAX. These are to be used for a builder so they need to be readily available. They think the racks we have spec'd (MA and Chief) are too expensive for what they are used for. The shelves are going to hold a Denon 5 disc CD changer and an AADS, so they have to be able to support 80+lbs and if they have a back be at least 20" deep. We have contacted an industrial shelving company but all their stuff is too large. Any help or ideas would be much appreciated Cheers SWO

I love the SANUS pre-made racks when looking for an inexpensive option for a few pieces. They come completely intact, with locking glass door. Count your time in assembling a rack into the money equation.

I have used rack rails a handful of times and they work great. I made my own rack using poplar and high gloss black paint. [Link: middleatlantic.com]

If you need a rack that is 'readily available', then you need to ask your local distributors this question.
Or, call some of the national distributors that offer prompt shipping. If you can't find something local, call Fred H.

What about something from here? http://www.shelving.com/we were going to use something like that but they are all too large. They are also some what picky when it comes to looks of the unit. That is too comercial looking and they wouldn't allow it in their homes. What's the budget I am trying to get a more definitive answer as to how much they want to spend. They have already said that the MA we quoted was too much so we are looking into others. Thanks for your responses so far. I will keep looking and give an update when I know more about cost.

I've found the MA laminated racks to be pretty cost effective. Did you check them out? [Link: middleatlantic.com]

Forgecore racks from Truaudio are a bargain. Best deals until the end of the month.

PM Sent. We have a basic ready to assemble rack that is very inexpensive. The base unit is 45", and a 39" extender is available if you need an 84" rack. Our basic shelves are also inexpensive. We use these to build commercial headends daily. In addition, we offer custom metal fabrication for racks and shelves to any specification. Details are at Pacemso.com. You have to sign in to get pricing. The website is going through a major revamp, but its useable now.
