I have a job going on for a church where i think it is going to be a never ending battle, we have a NEC GT5000 projector about 80' back on a giant draper screen which drops 34' down from the ceiling to vewing height, all this was going to be for was powerpoint @ 2 computer locations, now we are going to have 8 video sources, 5 of which will be composite video levels the others are computers. So i was thinking a simple 8x8 vga matrix switcher so the 6 new lcd's and the projector could get the same signal no matter what. The problem is the scaler(s) for the video sources which one? I tried a Dwin transcanner which seemed to work but the video jumped every 5 sec. or so,not on the projector just on the multiple lcd's. I tried a HD LEEZA which is more suited for the 16:9 home theater, and their tech support is questionable also.Maybe a DVDO?, or stack of them i should say, since they want any source anywhere at anytime. Any ideas would be helpful, thanks

SOunds like your in way over your head......

I've done similar systems and use the AVtoolbox AVT-3800 to scale the images to SVGA or SXGA resolutions.

The DVDO is ok, but the AVT-3k is LESS and offers much more flexibility as well as true scaling... Not just doubling.....

Thanks impaqt, yeah the beginning was easy but changing directions, not to mention rivers in the middle of the trip is really fun, the AVT-3k only has ir control? We're using a AMX netlinx system and i hate to use ir if there is any way around it

not sure i understand, but cant you just put video cards in the pc's that have composite video outputs? then you only have to deal with one type of signal.

Composite video out of a PC looks TERRIBLE... Espscially when you blow it up......

There should be no reason to actually "COntrol" the AVT-3800's (Just like the DVDO's) Set em and forget em.... Buy one for each source, set the input and output resolutons and let it run.....

However, if you want something thats going to play real nice with the AMX and offer a single box solution, look at the Extron/Inline IN1403. 3 Inputs, Plus VGA passthrough RS232, and can scale all the way up to XVGA

And the IN1402 is Inlines version of the AVT-3800.... More than twice the price, but RS232 controllable.

Yeah i know what you mean impaqt as fas as not touching them but i was just worried about their IT guys or somebody else pressing a button on the front, i just wanted to be able to set things right via the amx, also installer as far as video is concerned it will either be coming out of their broadcast booth or a vcr or possibly a standalone camera for whoever is speaking. I appreciate the ideas and help. I think we're going to use a kramer Switcher/Scaler, I offered a different alternative but i was over ridden ,,,anyway...., Had it red labeled in today only to have it defective, so kramer is sending us another one red label for tomorrow, so i'll let you know when it comes in, probably with .

The Kramer showed up and this one worked beautifully, we only tried the dwin and the leeza before because we had goten stuck with both, but they will someday be used in a theater instead of trying to fit them into the wrong application. Anyway thanks impaqt for the ideas
