Has anyone used this sub setup. I have a client who was left with a half done system who has a JBL in room sub (large black box) and hates it in the white room. I want to do an In wall (as much as I hate in wall subs) and want opinions on it. I dont have enuf room to do the back box. I have about 24 inches of height and all the depth I can eat due to the fact it is under the components shelf. SO I have a box about the sixe of a 12 inch sub cabinet

So Does this have any good sub performance for a theater room with in-walls for the front end LCR?

I would think so but I want to hear from someone who installed it.

Well, Since we have absolutely no idea the scope of the system or room, its going to be hard to say whether the sub is going to perform reasonably or not.

The Sonance system is OK for smaller rooms, but does not play real low.

If you have all that room, why not build a direct firing sub into the cabinet? You can do an M&K MX350 for the price of the sonance system and the 350 will bury the sonance.....

I dont have the height to the M&K, it was my first choice. Plus I am not set up where I can get them. Room size is redundant being it only has small cheap in walls to keep up with, and I can do one on each side of the TV if needed. This room is hardly a videophiles dream, just a basic media center. I may have to do a sunfire built into the wall. I just wanted a down and dirty way to do it and be a little less cost to build it in.

I am looking at the RBH in-wall sub as an option, it looks like it may be a winner if he wont buy the $1300 SUNFIRE and pay me labor to build it in.

I have a feeling that this is a situation where an elegant and large great room or family room is involved. Perhaps not enough cabinet space to put in a direct fire sub neatly?

Use the Sonance Cinema ll system... Use both subs and you will never look back. There are few applications where this system won't provide more than ample discrete performance that exceeds the clients expectations. They also feel good about themselves that "they" are savvy enough to hire a company that does things as exotic and cool as in wall subs that kick the ass off many great in room subs. Now they can show it off even more to their friends. They [the in wall subs] do have a large grill hat sticks out an inch or so; nevertheless, placement can be done easily and discretely.

I have used the Sonance in wall subs - overpriced underperformers!! I first tried them free air and then built MDF boxes (proper volume) for them. I couldn't believe how much they sucked! Everyone keeps telling me that Sonance is soooooo great - Bull#$%*!! I have not been impressed with ANY of their product. I did a 10,000 sqft. house with basically the whole Sonance line...what a bust! Fortunately the client didn't have very high expectations. Any sound coming out of the speakers was good enough for him but not me. As far as inwalls go try PSB. Awesome and affordable...as far as inwall subs....they all suck. I would love to find some good ones...if anyone knows of any, let me know.

obi...

for the price of the sonance inwall subs, you need to look into the triad inwalls...they are built in to there own cabs already...and come in a variety of price points and sizes...

they will do you justice, and will outperform (albeit for the same or more cost) the sonance by a large margin...

this is their big boy...although it's 15" deep and meant for mounting in a pre-determined location...they also have a full line of 6 and four inch deep subs

also, for what it worth, if he won't spring for the Sunfire (great sub) look into the Pinnacle BabyBoomer and BabyBoomer Plus...here...

GREAT bang for the buck, out if incredibly small cabinets...

good luck,
