Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. I have a new item to proof for all of you. If you have any customers that desire to sever their ties with cable TV, I have a free spreadsheet that assists you in helping them to figure out how to get that done with today's various web services and devices, minus connected Blu-Ray players and TVs. Simply fill out the information using the instructions on each tab, and you will see how much money they waste on cable TV, what their bill SHOULD be according to their viewing habits, and what their billing CAN be if they use web services and OTA DTV instead. I left out pricing for the various devices in case either you are a dealer, or you experience different pricing for another reason in your market.

The link is here: CableCutter

After you fill in the information, go back through the tabs once again to see the results. I have yet to find anyone who uses more than 5% of their available cable TV programming, which means that cable is a >95% waste of money. Let me know if there are CONSTRUCTIVE improvements that can be made to this spreadsheet.

And if you want to know my formulas, buy my book instead. It's in the Amazon Kindle store.

Hmmm, except that I have yet to be able to find the actual 5% that I do watch anywhere on the internet.

OK, Wesley, I went through your spreadsheet and even though none of the shows that I watch are available on the internet your sheet claims that I should only be paying $.34 per month.. lol.. I think something is broken..

Julie, you know how I feel about this industry. Everyone is talking about cutting the cord, but how can it be done in practice? I'm simply trying to get to the answers like everyone else.

Wesley, the concept is not a bad idea, the execution is pretty poor though. And that's being generous. To make this effective you would need a large database of TV shows and all the available sources of them online or OTA. Without that you offer nothing that I can't figure out myself.

Terrmul, thanks for the honesty. When channels and shows settle better, then I can maintain such a list. Right now, things have been changing a bit too much to maintain such. Maybe you can create one that can be referenced maybe? I may not have that skill.

+1

Much better idea than your first, but needs some work for real implementation.
