I just found this posted at AVS and thought I'd mention it here. [Link: davidsteele.com]I'm very happy with my Spacer System dimmers, but it looks like this will do exactly what I asked for in my original post.

I thought you might be interested to know that there really is a discrete ON code. I found it in the AUX158 code on the MX-500. I had to learn it to another remote and then learn it back to the button I wanted it on.
So it appears that the .m5 file is just bad, and the code can't be learned from the Lutron remote because it's not there.
