Does anyone know if the Pioneer wired IR jacks (labeled SR jacks, in and out, in the manula) can be wired to a Xantech IR block? They say in the manual for using another Pioneer component's IR receiver, wired in the standard daisy chain config. I have an amplified Xantech block feeding IR blasters and wired IR to other components that have mini-jacks. When I connected the mini-jack cable to the Pioneer, it not only did not respond to my IR commands, but it disabled the front IR receiver as well. Any ideas? Maybe they reverse the cable polarity or something?

You're not going to be able to simply run a 3.5mm cable from the SR out to the connecting block.

Xantech makes a model 794 interface that's designed to interface IR products with the serial control jacks on various brands of electronics which may work, but if I were you, I'd call the Xantech tech support folks and pose the question to them to make sure that it's going to do what you want it to do.

Their technical application guide mentions that it works with Pioneer, but it specifically mentions the multi-room control out and not the standard SR.

Thanks. I didn't want to connect the Pioneer as an input to the Xantech, I wanted to use my Xantech IR receiver/ distribution system to talk TO the Pioneer via the SR ports. I will give Xantech a call if no one knows if this will work.

That is the application that AHEM describes. The interface is a 794-10. Don't forget the ground lug.

I have been using 794's for years as kids are always pulling the flashers off. On multiple Pioneer receivers sharing common components you can use their serial combiner also. Works great if you stay with one brand, but problems arise when mixing. Always use an amplified block to avoid impedance problems. Some of the newer Pioneer recievers take direct input off the block. Some have on-screen menus where you choose what type of IR input you are using.

Depending on the receiver, I've seen pioneers have an Option inthe menu system for "SR" receiver or "Xantech"

THe difference is that in SR mode, it provides power to the receiver, you definatly dont want to backfeed power into an connecting block.
