Does anybody know of a doorbell interface that works on speaker level? I have a Sonos System and the home owner would like to have the doorbell ring over the speakers. What this would need to be is a speaker level so my hookup goes from the Sonos system to the Doorbell interface to the speakers.
Thanks, SDZD

Yes, you can get there from here, depending on number of speakers, etc.
Much more information will get you a better answer....

Here you go. Feed the whole system through the stereo, etc. [Link: rdlnet.com]

Viking offers better chimes than RDL. Talk to Fred. I considered that RDL FP-CH8 for a Nuvo integration, but I'm going with the Viking SLP-1 or SLP-4 instead. Nuvo white paper offers the install instructions for both the RDL and SLP-1. SLP-4 offers the option of customized .wav files played as the chime. Here is a link to the factory-loaded SLP-4 chimes, including dogs barking and door knock. ;) [Link: vikingelectronics.com]IIRC, there's about a $100 difference between the SLP-1 and the SLP-4; RDL FP-CH8 was about the price of the SLP-1.

Actually, if the Sonos is a speaker level out, you might want to take that into one of the Russound Compoint intercom devices. That has an amp for the speakers, a priority activated a/v, and a door station. Customer's friend shows up and mashes the door, and this will interupt sonos and insert chime tone. If sonos is not on, same result.

Beat me to it, totally agree here.

I've been thinking more about this, over the last week.
Maybe the SLP-4 is overkill, for a client install. The SLP-1 is prob better, unless he's a technogeek and wants to change the chime a lot.
