A customer just got a plasma lift cabinet by Hooker. The remote that operates the lift is RF not IR. There is a switch in the inside of the lid that also operates the lift. Is there any way to trigger the lift via IR or 12V trigger? And, IF I can trigger the lift via 12V, can I make it go up and down? I am using a Marantz SR7400 reciever, which has a DC out, and a Pronto 7000NG.

Chances are your RF remote is simply a garage door opener style interface to a basic Contact closure in the cabinet. Probobly the Switch as well. I never heard of "Hoocker" lifts before, but most I've seen use a similar interface. Look for the actual control board... Not the control interface and you'll see whats triggering the motion.

Either way (12v or CC) a safe interface is a Xantech CC12. Basic IR Controlled relay... It can provie you a Contact closure, or a 12V signal with the use of a basic 12V Power Supply....
