Testing out the Samsung TV Remote App for iPhone with their new LED connected via LAN. App controls all aspects of the set perfectly except I cannot turn the TV ON from the application (off works).

I'm guessing the set does not wake on LAN commands or the port is inactive when set is off?

Anyone figure this out yet?

The same as previous Samsungs using RS232, in standby, the circuitry is turned off.

But let me guess: it's GREEN, right?

A major difference between politicians today and, say, back in Lyndon Johnson's day (an example I happen to have recently heard about) is that when Johnson wanted to make sweeping changes, he asked how he could do that without ruining the economy. Today the question of ruining the economy is ignored. That Samsung is green, all right, but can't be used that way!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I installed two Samsungs early this year and the RS232 port was on for both of them when the TV was in standby.

Kind of pointless though since Samsungs RS232 ack responses amount to OK or FAILED making the communication effectively no better then infrared.

Check the "green" settings. Disabling might keep it awake enough to receive the ON command.

Yep, checked and turned off all of the Eco Solution settings, panel is wired and setup with static IP, even set the clock just for kicks.

The problem is when the app is loaded it discovers the panel via it's IP address on the network. As soon as you power OFF the panel the app is not able to discover the IP address.

edit: Had a chat session with Samsung. This is a normal 'feature'; cannot turn the device ON via LAN. Said they would submit this to development team for a possible update.
