its actually grayed out in the menu when looking at it on the OSD.
tech support has no clue.
"take out network cable for 10 seconds, put it back in"
"reset receiver by holding down vcr button and pressing power button at same time"

sh!t man i tried these things before i called you!

ok i bypassed the switch before the receiver and plugged directly in (leading from a router downstairs) and it finally worked.

i then put the switch back in place and it still works.
how odd.

i just hate that onkyo tech support is sooo bad.

"well . . i guess its a bad unit . . have a great day!"

seriously, he told me to have a great day after he told me it was a bad unit.
he didnt even say - sorry we couldnt get it working for you.

OT: I am on site at the moment, which RS-232 file are you using or which IR file aproprite for this unit.  Very crucial on iPod interface and Zone2.

Thanks in advance

i usually use the modules from RTI or Crestron (SB) under Integra... 6.9, 7.9, 8.9, etc.

meanwhile i think firmware updates on onkyo helped the IP control issue

The trick with that is to call the head of the support department on his cell phone :-)
...and no I am not giving it out :-) sorry

i updated the firmware and im gonna see how that works,
but on one of the three receivers i keep getting an error when i try to update the firmware over the net.

i even tried resetting the receiver (vcr+standby) and trying again,
no luck.

Are you plugged into the same network switch that the receiver is connected directly to?

same issue . . still.
hooking up via network switch its grayed out (even though the link light on the switch lights up).

hooking up directly from router helps sometimes but not always.
updated to latest firmware and its still funky.

how annoying.
