I believe I have read about a device that can transmit the IR codes from ProntoeditNG in previous threads . I think there were diagrams and schamatics. Does anyone have any information on this. Maybe I was dreaming it.

Wouldn't that be

the TSU3000?

If that isn't the silliest answer I have ever seen, I don't know what is!

But just what is it that you are trying to do? Try out codes you have downloaded to see if they work? Try out...well, hell, just try out codes? The TSU3000, if I read things right, is just itching to "transmit the IR codes from ProntoeditNG." In fact, it is almost as if they were made for one another!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Thank You Gilman,

I knew I had read about a device somewhere.

Thanks.

No really,

I thought I read something about a device that you can make from scratch that would transmit the codes from ProntoEditNG. I know I can use the actual remote. I really don't want to purchase one just for that function. I would rather sell it and make some money.

Maybe I am mistaken.

Again, what is it that you want to do? If you want a device that will transmit codes from NG, then you want a device that will transmit IR codes from your COMPUTER, and I have never heard of that. It would be cool, though!

You would need to buy the remote to learn the codes anyway. It just never occurred to me to actually have the computer emit the codes.

Should be possible, though; if I remember right, the PE4 (i.e. NOT the program for the 3000) will make the Pronto emit codes if it is plugged in when the emulator is used; maybe there is some way to take the RS232 output and change it to IR codes...

but then, would this cost less than a 3000? Coming up with ONE would be quite a research project. Let me just suggest right now that a 3000 would be cheaper than the project of making a device that would take emulator signals and turn them into IR.

Voila. Done.

Well... The Global Cache GC-100 uses Proto Hex for its IR drivers.... They start at $150.00 Maybe coding a basic windows interface for the GC100 could make you a few bucks.... Its on my long list of things to play with in the future, but its twoards the bottom of the list so have at it....

***EDIT***

Well, Just going back through my Global Cache API specs and it turns out it does NOT use ccf hec directly..... There IS a conversion utility on the wesite though.....

Still makes it pretty easy to do kinda what your saying...
