For all the integrators with experience, if you had to choose one system that your company was gonna represent which would you go with, Savant or Control4? I know C4 quite well but just haven't worked with Savant and don't know the in's and out's of programming.

i don't think they really go after the same market, so the decision is not really picking the "best" tool but rather the right one for your business strategy. if you want to treat your target market as a given (and not treat that as a variable in this decision), then perhaps describe who you serve, and that might help with the feedback.

If it's not simple, it's not sufficiently advanced. |

I guess that would depend onthe projects youa re going after.
IMO, Both can peacfully coexist.
COntrol4 offers more "Reasonable" priced solutions for a broader ranged of projects.
Savant offers higher end touch screenand on-screen interfaces , more interactive control, and a broader line of audio/video matrix solutions.
If you are not doing control as of now, I would start with Control4, get your feet wet.

Neither, if your going to be in it for the long haul, start with Crestron Prodigy.

It's Apples & Oranges.
With Savant, of course, being Apple (based).
Control4 is for folks in the phast lane!

Fins, while Im not a C4 dealer, I wouldnt say its a KIA. Maybe a Buick. I actually don't mean that comparison as an insult to c4. The Koreans hve figures out how to build some descent vehicles that cost less. But they aren't luxury level. On the other end, the British figured out how to build luxury vehicles, but they aren't know for reliability and demand high service. So the Bentley wasn't necessarily a compliment either.

This is funny. I wouldn't start with that if it was the last thing to install.
Savant and C4 program a lot like. I have done both and can say it just depends on the project. I would say to pick up both if your company can manage it.

I think this was fitting in a thread where Prodigy is mentioned... at a training they kept using the "high end european" car analogy, but all their brand examples were known for not just luxury and performance, but also unreliability and high cost of ownership. LOL. Can you say irony? :) I agree with C4 and Savant being completely different. Totally depends on your market. Unless you're solely going after the mid to high end with C4 then I don't see a comparison.

Control4. This gives you a product that will work at the very low end where u need a remote and control of 5 devices and it can scale up to large projects. If your typical job is 200k + then maybe you can do Savant. Your biggest mistake unless you have 20 employees.. Would be to try and do both.

This is funny. I wouldn't start with that if it was the last thing to install. You can laugh all you like but I bet if you look at the numbers, Crestron's Prodigy is doing quite nicely. It might have it's issues but it will give Control 4 some stiff competition and it will only get better over time. We have a Savant system out there and for as much as you pay for it, it's a damn joke. Mac Mini in wolves clothing. Unless your just a damn idiot, which you probably are...last time I looked Crestron is pretty darn good at what they do.
