Does anyone know if it is possible to use a vantage system (touchscreen or button switches) to control pool alarms and a russound uno? I've seen a home with a litetouch system controling pool alarms with one of the buttons on the switch next to a door leading to the pool. So I would assume that this is possible. But curious about the russound uno.

I belive you would need some sort of control system between the two but maybe im worng. Typical what you ask is a common application with a crestron or AMX system.

I also think Vantage has released a home theater type control processor that works on the Vantage Buslink. That is probably the best solution.

I would have to check my books to see if you can control external rs232 devices off the processor itself.

Vantage does provides provisions for both RS-232 and IR control.

If you mean control a pool *control system* such as Jandy, yes you could do it.

As far as pool alarms, that is potentially a huge liability/safety issue, and I would advise being careful about agreeing to automate certain things - but can't say more without knowing exactly what you are trying to accomplish.

Yes it was a pool alarm that I was talking about. I'm trying to find a way to consolidate a pool alarm, vantage keypad, and russound uno keypad. I'm sure the salesman sold the vantage system with the intent to declutter the walls. But we just added more devices.

Charlieg,
I couldn't agree more with QQQ; there is no way to overstate the potential damage due to liability when you move into Life Safety products. I am currently serving time in my own personal Purgatory working for an electrical contractor where I have to deal with security systems. Just one horror story: A competitor sends a tech out to service a location, that location being a convenience store. The tech does not thoroughly check ALL programming, including the silent alarm panic button. When he leaves, it is armed as an audible warning. The inevitable low-life walks in, robs the place, and walks out. The clerk pushes the "silent" alarm, and the horn starts shrieking. Incensed that anyone would be so rude, the product of failed parenting walks back in and kills the clerk with his gun. The tech and the proprietor are toast. PLEASE be careful with this idea, everybody. It would be one thing to lose the business you're working so hard to build, but what would it feel like to have to remember something like this every night in the dark.

Russound keypad, yes. I would not touch the pool alarm for any amount of money. They can live with another control on the wall. What if your Vantage system or Vantage keypad fails? Tell them you won't do it.
