Has anyone else had these IR pass thru problems with Scintific Atlanta, and Motorola boxes..We use the russound Saphir stuff as of late..They seem more dependable than the Xantech/OEM Jamo stuff we were using..and is plasma proof out of the box..But will not pass New cable box codes..They seem to be in the near B&O band lately..Of course its not an issue with our rf customers,(Crestron,Phillips,Universal)But we need a plasma proof high frequencie solution using IR..Anyone had any success??

if i were to guess, its the frequency that the ir is talking on. in a resort in san diego we had to modulate the ir to a different frequency so the cable boxes would read the ir. it was in the early days of plasma friendly ir receivers, and i think what happened was being "plasma friendly" meant they cut out the frequency that the cable boxes would recognize. hope this helps, i dunno.

AudioPlex.............
AudioPlex.............
AudioPlex.............

Plasma Proof.......... MultiFrequency..... Mix and match as you need, and even use it with your Russound Connecting Blocks and such...

I agree with you about Audioplex. It works well and is at a reasonable pricepoint. However, be careful about the mix and match. I had a problem with a Scientific Atlanta cable box using a "Stealth" plasma-proof sensor by Audioplex. The Audioplex was to replace a Xantech 490 plasma-proof sensor. Since I normally use Xantech sensors, I had left the Xantech 791 block and the Xantech 283 emitters with the Audioplex sensor. Everything worked great except the cable box. After scratching my head and grumbling a few obscenities for a while, I decided to try some Audioplex emitters that I had bought with the sensor as a kit. The problem cleared up! Who would have ever thought that it would make a difference?

So now, I always use the Audioplex instead of the Xantech for plasma screens. When I exchanged the Xantech for the Audioplex, I had enough money left over to buy a large quantity of spackle adequate to fill the gigantic hole in the wall that I had drilled for the Xantech.

THanks Impaqt.. Island Life I knew it was freq..issue..I would have to agree with Stew though and we have not had much success mixing with Audioplex..We use to be a Sony ES Dealer and had to use Audioplex 2-way which was always a pita..But we will try the Audioplex complete systems in our next plasma with cable box system..Hell I hate even using a cable box with a nice t.v. But you guys know how some of the customers are...

I have a Xantech system all the way through with no plasma (DLP). The moto 5100 cable box will not work through the IR system though. Emitters work fine, controls all other devices, cable box works if the cabinet is open.

Any ideas?

I don't know about the Motorola box but the IR that the SA box uses has a carrier frequency of about 57k which is higher than anything now out there that I've run across with the exception of B&O. I tend to go with the Audioplex as well.

We have done several of the DCT-6200's with the Sonance OptiLink IR kits and have had no problems with the IR parts. We did use Makehex to generate clean codes since we we had problems with "learned" codes on the first one we did, just enough loss to make a difference. Clean codes took care of the problem.

Guys, have not tried it yet and may be mistaken..But Xantech claims to have a new Dinky Link that is both plasma proof and works on the new cable boxes..and is interchangeble with other xantech like gear (not Niles) Will try soon..WE were asked to call them by Audioplex.. because they had not solved the issue yet..PHSJason thanks for your input as well we will try that avenue too...
