I am interested in getting a CEDIA certification. I wanted to know what I need to do to prepare. I checked out CEDIA's website and saw their list of books. Are they necessary? Is there a study guide available? Is the test difficult? Any input you have would be greatly appreciated.

I took the BETA test when CEDIA was coming up with what was going to be on the test. The Level I test is fairly simple. I would say as long as you have been installing for at least a year, you will pass without studying. As far as the level II, I haven't taken it but I heard it is necessary to study for that one. If you have any questions, send me an email. [email protected]

I have taken both tests and passed. The Level I is fairly easy if you have been installing for a few years but the Level II is more about management issues with other OSHA & NEC questions. I suggest for Level I to take at least the short class given at CEDIA to brush over the items on the test. As for Level II they offer an all day class I highly suggest before taking that one.
