I am trying to modulate 6 cameras onto 6 channels of digital cable. I was planning to use a channel vision modulator and a channel vision splitter. I talked to Ch vision tech support and they said that it will be very difficult to get 6 channels modulated into the digital cable system without swiching the input on the tv to veiw the cameras. They said that because of the frequency used by digital cable it is very limeted what can be modulated in. Just wondering what you guys have ran into with modulating digital cable.

I know we have had to disconnect a camera beacause the customer introduced a digital line AND HDTV through comcat...it's causing a nightmare of notch filters, modulators, attenuators etc....still working on it though.

and that's just ONE camera!

In that particular case the TV input was being switched to watch the camera, however, there still seemed to be some conflict between the camera and HD channels.
How hard can this be?

With all the problems that digital cable ... notch filters ... etc. etc. ... create, is modulated video still worth pursuing? Seems like we have more service calls and BS than it is worth dealing with.

If you have two RG-6's at each viewing location the modulating the signal is no problem. At each location with a digital cable box simply insert the signal after the cable box on the RF side with a splitter combiner. At locations that are using the composite, s or component outputs, simply have the local TV tuner or VCR tuner the modulated signal. Most if not all TV and VCR tuners will not tune the digital bands anyway so use a channel blocker and modulate to channels in the 75 to 90 range

Eagle-Aspen will custom make a notch filter to your specs. I was told by them that they can make one that blocks the frequency that they send internet data on, and then you just insert it after the modem.
