Ok, I just got done building a CCF for a 6000. Now I look and AVAD does not list the 6000 anymore, they now have the 7000. What software do I build a ccf for a 7000 with? Can I use my 6000 CCF files? This is really pissing me off to the point of just doing crestron again. I want color, or nothing.

Does Capitol still have 6000 Pronto's?

check the files section here:

[Link: remotecentral.com]

this will work to import the 6000 CCF's...

It's BRAND NEW so it's probably pretty skethcy still!

I feel your pain..

Call Cinelight in Washington...they still had 6000's at last check (about a week ago) and they're about $100 cheaper than the big guys pricing...

second the Crestron comment though...

There is a very slight learning curve with the new software but the screen and the included graphics look great. There seems to be a problem with battery life or just the indicator. Check it out in the ProntoNG forum

Well it is sad to think of all those .CCF files that are going to go unused now. The import option leaves a little to be desired. I dont know why Philips in there infinite wisdome decides to screw up the best remote going. The single best selling point of the original was the "no button" approach. Now after looking at the 7000 it is just another touch/hardbutton remote with no lables on the hard buttons.

I think I want to invent something better. I want HTML damit.

Yeah! damn Philips... Whats gives them the right to go out and improve a remote control and then suddenly discontinue the old one without telling anyone!

They could of let us know like a year ago that the 7000 was coming out... Daniel could of done a review and maybe even a design contest of some sort...

To just spring it on us like this is just crazy.....

No no,,, this is "Sarcasam"
Im sorry to piss you off, o wait no im not!

So the new pronto is better huh? It has more buttons that have no label, just some kinda glif icons, that must make it better?

It does not seem any faster at page transitions to me, in fact it seems longer.

I really love those animated icons we have now...

Did they bother to offer the feedback/Power sensing feature that RTI has in the RF to IR box? Naa that would make sense, besides this only costs the consumer $1000.

Did they think about Wi-fi or maybe doing something cutting edge with a home network (TIVO guide)? We will wait for the NNG for that one, then we will trash everything and start over.

This is a $500 remote at best.
Different is not better. The reason the thing took off in the first place was the simple nature of having a remote with few little buttons on it.

NG is what it is, a way to force out the old product line for both consumers and OEM's that rebadge this unit. In a few short years all the .CCF files on here will be usless to most casual users and we will have a new pile of files to build and sort thru. Then the folks with those $1000 6000 remotes will want a new one to use the lates file!

It wont be long and we will have something better for less, why should you need a $1000 remote that cant even see a HTML web page like a $200 phone or PDA can?
Think about things other than IR based home theater gear (RS232 anyone)? They could have done much more to justify a so called "Improvement" that required a new propriatary software app, not the slight change that they made.

But hey, what do I know. Im sure they will continue to sell millions upon millions of these $1000 remote controls, to bad thats all that they are, "remote controls".

Man im glad CES is around the corner!
