So I decide to take my wife out to the movies (actually I've been planning it for a month) I like to take her out about once a year whether she needs it or not :). Anyway, I'm like a kid in a candy store for the Return of the Kings. I buy my tickets on line at movietickets.com 4 days before the movie opens. I swore that I would never enter another movie theater again after the last piece of crap that I paid $20.00 to see. But there I was paying $5.00 for a bag of popcorn (not even a bucket anymore!) We find our seats about 10 rows back in the middle. I check out how the theater is laid out. Start looking at the speaker locations, the size of the screen, I'm taking in the whole thing. Then I realize that I'm a freak.

Anyway, I like to consider myself a pretty decent movie critic and I've got one thing to say about the last story of the trilogy. EPIC. The movie was completely SOLD OUT every seat was filled. Not one person made a sound or left there seat for 3 hours.

Sitting there staring at everything. Seeing how it's laid out. Looking for signs of the screen moving when it shouldn't be. What type of fabric they used on the wall. I actually touched the wall on the way out to feel the fabric. Trying to look for a logo on the speakers hanging on the wall. Looking for the sub. You know typical freakish, I need a life type of stuff.

You're not a freak, you're a guy. I do the same thing. I feel uncomfortable if I'm even 1 seat off-center. I hate when trailers are in mono. I always look up & check to see if the projector lens needs cleaning. And I leave the room to bitch if the focus is off or the aspect is wrong (just don't use the word "aspect" when explaining the problem to the manager, he won't know what it means).

Oh... that way... Knowing that you can provide better with little effort

I still go to the movies about once every two months... young kids do not allow me to crank it up like I'd like to and as great as it is watching movies at home, sometimes you need an escape. Kind of ruins things when the phone rings (or the cell phone with a customer question)... the kids bust in and ask you to change the latest action flick for Barney or decide that the best place for a screaming match is right there with you.

I've picked out my faves though and most are quite a drive away... the ones close to my house are basically s--t so I drive into Seattle and yeah... I'm a freak too.

I just went over tonight to the movie Theater with my wife to watch the movie. I drove up an hour early and purchased my tickets and we went to get some drinks while waiting for the movie. I search and find parking within distance of the door before my limbs freeze solid and both of us are talking about the past two and what happened. When we walk in, there was not a crowd. We turn a look at each other "cool!" Then we get to the door of the theater and see a little high school boy checking tickets and walk in. Boom. Chaos.
IT appears 10 minutes before it was a free-for-all, no usher involved. So every brat in WM was in there with three or four jackets over empty seats "saving the best" for the friends. Piss on this... Refund. LAST TIME EVER.... I swear. Probably until the next blockbuster arrives.
What do you think is fair? It think it should ticket number for entrance. Lowest to highest.
I just going to fire up Daredevil in the DVD player and call it a night.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

Well, it's good to know I'm not the only one. In about 5 years they will come up with a name for our disorder. Something like "Don't bring you brat to the theater syndrome" or "Can we have one theater that you can't enter if you think Vin Diesel is the second coming of Jesus H. Christ" or "Attention deficit because the idiot next to you cell phone is ringing disorder"

I really dont go to a movie unles it is a daytime event, during the school year. I cant stand paying to babysit someone elses kids, I dont have any and nobody wants to believe there kids are idiots and jerks.
Last time I went it was almost an empty house, exept for the teenage mother (or big sister) and the 5 year old with the auto umbrella that kept deploying. FWAP!...... FWAP...... I wanted to be very violent.. To many ignorant asses who dont stop to think that it is there kid!

Heh, the only thing I could notice during the film when I saw it on Wednesday was that there was a sound problem. Most noticable during quiet orchestral passages, it was basically a "blipping" sound randomly every few seconds, seemed to be in the center channel. Oddly wasn't noticable during loud sequences.

Now the good part is that this was a matinee full of adults skipping work. I've never been in a quieter theater with so many people. No one talking, no cell phones, not even a cough. Amazing!

Isn't that the best? As father of 2 young'uns, I've sat through my share of kid's movies on opening day. It's never pleasant.

Last movie I saw was Matrix Reloaded in IMAX, on a 10am Sunday matinee - I was one of 10 people there. It was beautiful!

Saw Reloaded in IMax as well. A lot busier when I went, but they had the thing CRANKED so it wasn't a problem!

My wish is for a theater to offer an adults only showing. Charge a little extra, offer beer and wine and ushers who actually usher out the anyoing.

So, would you all be willing to pony up a little extra dough for a controlled showing of a flick? Yeah, I know that the theater should take charge anyway, but who provides customer service anymore besides us and Lexus?

We had that here, it was a bar with movies, I never went because everyone said that the peeps at the tables wouldent let you hear any of the movie. Not to mention alot of people would be eating dinner, dont get me started on the waitresses.

I agree tho, just a regular theater with beer at the consession stand like a ball game would be nice, no one under 21 permited!!!
