Scottedge267,
Thanks for taking the time out it is greatly appreciated. I will try Wireshark this weekend and I'll let you know how things turn out.
On another note, we were able to get our Vantage Infusion Controller to work with CommandFusion's Iviewer via an Iphone. Vantage is doing all the heavy lifting...
Thanks again!

no problem I guess you can just send TCP/IP commands with Command Fusion. Guess I have a project for the weekend!

For a good tool for testing serial connections of serial ports or TCP/IP connections check out:

http://www.docklight.de/

It has a many features that ease this sort of work.

Scottedge267,
Played around w/ Hercules program this weekend. Hercules was a big help. I was able to to talk to the Integra piece using hex codes, now I just need to find a good hex to ascII converter. I did try using: ISCP^@^@^@^P^@^@^@^I^A^@^@^@!1MVLQSTN^M , but I couldn't get it to work.

I need a good Hex to ASCII Converter.

I'll keep you posted on this one...

you can use this in excel

[Link: excelforum.com]

entering in ^@ would only work in a terminal program most likely. And you would need to figure out how to enter the control codes. For example in terminal on the mac I had to enter <meta charset="utf-8">control-v before entering shift-2 which sent @. control-v tells terminal I want to actually enter in a hex value not @. This is where wireshark is really helpful because you can see what you are actually sending to the device. So you can figure out why something isn't working.

Also depending on the environment you will be deploying TCP/IP control will dictate how you need to format the code. it's easy to mix hex and ascii in php or objective-c you can just use \x to designate hex.

I've used docklight in the past and liked it. <meta charset="utf-8">Just downloaded it agin it doesn't do TCP/IP does it? on RS232

I emailed HW group to desigate ASCII and Hex in the same line use the $ so here is the volume

ISCP$00$00$00$10$00$00$00$09$01$00$00$00!1MVLQSTN$0D

also if you right click on the receive/send data screen and disable CR/LF enable makes it easier to read.

Yes DockLight supports both your typical Windows serial ports (COM1, COM2, etc) and TCP/IP connections (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:pppp) which you would use when connecting to serial port servers, units like a MOXA NPort 5410 and others.

The ability to enter the data to be sent as ASCII, HEX DECIMAL or BINARY saves using a conversion chart.

You can also view the data sent/received in any of those formats.

I went back you need docklight scripting. Didn't spend to much time but it certainly isn't as easy to setup as Hercules. And now I know how to send commands in both I think I would use the free Hercules version. Docklight is nice I used it for RS232 in the past and liked it.
