So I've got the Samsung 50" DlP set here that was a specific request of a client for a home theater I'm doing. I set it up in the shop over the weekend to familiarize myself with it and start programming the MX-700. My only source was analog cable to start with. Talk about a bad picture. motion artifacts like I haven't seen in a long time and the audio was about a full second ahead of the video. It was just as bad with the matching samsung DVD running NTSC component. I ran over to a big box store for a DVDI cable ($100?!). That really transformed it. Night and day picture quality and the audio sync was on target. I expected a major improvement but I didn't expect it to look so bad out of the box. Just thought I'd put the info out there and see what general response comes back.

I noticed that Samsung is touting to be the "First with DLP" in the US market, sorry Optoma, Sim2, etc...

We have alot of clients that have been getting that TV(HLN Series) lately. A few of them have mentioned the audio sync issue. It apparently is even trickier with HD sources since the sync on HD itself is usually off. I am pretty sure it is a known problem to Samsung. I am not sure what they intend to do about it though.

I did a lot of reading on the another forum last night. apparently they have a new board to fix the audio problem (if you complain), it also looks like they have a new lens to solve an internal reflection issue. At least the discreet IR codes worked well and with the dvi cable hooked up it looks good.
