In terms of light reflecting and such. I was planning on doing it a dark blue. My loveseat and ottoman are olive, TV, entertainment center and DVD racks are all black. 65 inch RPTV by the way.

just about ANY dark hue will do...

needs to be FLAT...with flat primer.

I know that sounds stupid, but there ARE several primers out there that will put a minor gloss on a sheet of drywall...

What is primer anyway? How does it help?

I have always felt that the green color of the marker used on the edges of CDs provides the best sound in home theater applications

We can do it my way, or we can do it my way while I yell. The choice is yours.

in the early days of writable CDs there used to be better ones that had a greenish tint to them. Someone had started a rumour that it was better because of the green and that using a marker on a regular CD would make it as good as the better CD.

Ok, understand that, but what does that have to do with the orignal question? What color to paint for best picture?

I don't know the scientifically correct answer. Half of me says use the same color as the screen, since that's what will be the black portion of the picture. Of course, that's the same half that thinks a stopped clock is better than one that gains a minute every day.

The other half says use flat black (fabric if possible) to absorb any random overspray, at least on the front wall.

But regardless, you'll have to sell it to the interior designer. Good luck, unless that's you.

but what does that have to do with the original question?

don't know, maybe he thinks it was a bogus question in the same vain as colouring a CD does not affect the sound. Or he really thinks dark green is the best colour.

I disagree entirely. Paint the room a color you find inviting. It is important that the room be used, and that one feels comfortable in it. No one will want to spend any appreciable time in a dark hole in the basement. Just avoid the lightest shades, the screen light will illuminate the whole room. Fabric covered walls are best.

I originally wanted to do fabric, i'm just not sure on how good it would turn out. Do you mean get curtains up the length of the room? Or just staple fabric flat onto the wall? Any sites that explain the process?

I really like the darker maroons and reds, flat if possible. I had a client years ago do flat black on all the surfaces? Looked like crap with the lights on tho.
