I have a situation at a client where I need an IR blaster that will transmit 15-20 feet. The main room is multi-purpose with a Middle Atlantic rack full of components. There is a wooden beam across the middle of the room where I would like to mount an IR emitter to control the rack. This is a very high-end home and stick-on IR emitters are not an option (Krell pre-amp, mono blocks, Runco projector, etc). I have 2 Elan VIAs in the house that are programmed to control the equipment in the rack (satellite, whole house audio, etc.) The VIAs connect to a Xantech connecting block. I have modified the connecting block by changing the current limiting resisters for greater output. This has worked successfully on several installs, but normal emitters cannot blast the range I need. I built a small amplifier circuit but only got about 10 feet out of it. What products have people used to blast IR across a room? Thanks.

Krell has an IR In jack on the back of it. No Reason to ever put an emmitter on the front.

Think about controlling the Runco RS-232 A Xantech IR-RS232A works just fine.

I've opened up components in the past to put the emitter inside..... But also check the back of all these units... Even if it doenst have a standard IR in... Xantech makes adaptors for SR Link, RC-5, and other protocals.

Xantech used to make a "Blaster" that worked well in this situation.... Al gone now for some reason... Look at Speakercraft. The AT-1.0 and a IRE5.0 may be your best bet if you want to stick with the Blaster Option.

Best blaster I ever used, and the only one w/ any appreciable distance, was a Crestron "Master Blaster" ST-MB. Needed to control a Lutron keypad w/o adding LV wiring to the box. Worked great from 20+ feet. Wasn't cheap.
