Hello brethren, I am trying to reconfigure a Niles ZR-8630 from another designer...my client purchased the house with this system and it has 4 TS-1's controlling it. I want to reconfigure the templates and reprogram with some new components...the latter being the easier and is done. I have been able to get the programming software from Niles but they do not have a cable and are vaig about its properties...they sent me a pinout but it looks and is marked just like a URC MX serial DB-9 with the 3 conductor 1/8 mini stereo jack. The pinout memo from Niles specifically says that it is not compatible with the serial cable that comes with the URC MX Series remotes (which I have a box full of) but it say's MX700 in the memo ( I know this is an old memo) so did the later models (like the still current MX-850) change to the same as the Philips Pronto serial cable? I found that pinout for the Pronto on this site and it looks the same on both ends as the ones that I have which is numbers 1 thru 5 from left to right across the top, and 6 thru 9 from left to right across the bottom row...some of these db9 interfaces also have an "F", or what also looks like a "B" or "E" (some are more visible that others so I must just be getting these letters confused)

If the URC cable you have doesn't work you just have to oPen it up and cross 2 of the conductors. I forget which 2 of the 3 but it's not hard to test all of the possibilities.
