Does anyone have any experience with the xantech touchscreens, RELIABILITY???? I have a church situation where all i really need to control is a receiver and a projector ( both with full discretes ). They want 3 touchscreen locations. We normally would do AMX in this situation but they are on a tight budget. Any thoughts would help. Thanks

Is there a reason you need to do touchscreens? Usually a small budget and touchscreens don't go together.

The stand alone Russound UNO IR2 or the Elan VIA! come to mind for discrete control and low cost.

a used AMX cardframe, RF receiver with three viewpoints
would be only about $2K.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

They will not transmit multicode IR codes as of CEDIA.

The Sonance K2 navigator touch screen keypad is awesome. it can do almost anything AMX can do, only for less money.

It uses the standard Xantech protocol, is basically an RTI remote in a 2-gang wall box, and uses similar software to program. I have installed several of these, none of them have had any problems and every one loves them. All you need is a $65.00 navidock, a 1-amp power supply, some emitters and cat 5. You can run 4 keypads off one navidock, which is basically a Xantech connecting bock with 5 emitter outputs.

RTI Installer,
I was looking at this the other day and noticed it had an RS485 connector on the back, what is this for? as I thought the system could only handle IR.

I can only presume it is there for future use.

Xantech LM-110. Hard buttons, but very reliable.

The RS485 is not active right now, but! It is supposed to be active real soon, which will eventually provide serial control of just about anything. The new Harbor multizone controller coming out at CES is said to have an RS-232 output which can be controlled by the K2 keypad.

Oh, and to answer geraldb's comment, the K2 also has 11 assignable hard buttons and further the K2 is way Easier to program than the Xantech stuff.

The coolest thing of all is that the keypad comes with a mounting assembly that is very much the same as a lot of inwall speakers, all you have to do is cut the hole attach the wire and tighten 2 screws and the whole assembly clamps its self right flush into the wall. The faceplate stays on with magnets, so if you want to change the programming, you just flip the plate off without having to mess with screws.

So the K2s all connect in parallel to the 5 screws on the dock?

Does the LCD screen change per the right side button presses (programmed as you want it to look or the way they pre program it?)

Wish I could see one in action...

The K2's can standalone or get tied to the sonance harbor. Connect as many keypads as you want in each zone, up to six zones per harbor. Power was not thought out well. The harbor can only supply power to three keypads max. The other keypads will need there own power supply.
The screen is semi-customizable. If your interested the software has a preveiw mode and is pretty easy to learn.

Sonance K2 is the way to go for reliability, and ease of use. Also, good tech support.

Well the jury is still out on the Xantech, but if it works likes it says, and is as reliable as their DD4 product has been for me, it will certainly blow that product out of the water.
