Well, you may have read my posts on my Elan issues, so I thought I would start a new thread on worst product lines that we have had the displeasure of working on this year. I think it's about time that manufacturers know what we go through selling and installing their stuff. These threads are posted on the internet and because RC has high ranking in google, our posts get can be effective in getting the word out to potential dealers, manufacturers and end users.

Hands down, mine would be Elan Home Systems. To be fair, I have had success with their basic S6 controller, but the S8.6 has been my nemesis this year!!

Post away!!! lol

Netstreams, my biggest nightmare of the year. Let's see if their new owners can make some good changes. Elan would come in second.

Sadly I have to say the color line of remotes from RTI have been our biggest issue hands down!!

Ugh, us too. That why we moved over to URC. However to be fair, RTI has a nice waterproof remote that is rock solid.

Oddly enough, I made it work. I still wake up screaming in the night because of it. There were still some issues with the Elan side of it the other day. The T4 in the game room, and all the crazy requests from the customer made my brain hurt. I hope that I never see that house again unless it's to go in and rip everything out and install something that actually works, but that won't happen under the current circumstances...maybe in the future ;)

My biggest pain in the ass has been programming old Systems using MX-950's and MSC-400's. None of which I sold but was called to program. Not a big deal, just a PITA, especially the 950.

2nd is HDMI baluns, specifically a piece that we got from Key Digital.

T2C my most loved and hated product ever. Then they start messing with the warranty process, are they actively trying to get us all to change to URC.

We've changed to Prodigy, but not full board Crestron yet, so we may still be using RTI for larger jobs. Seems sort of backwards.

I have to pretend I love Control4 at work, but when I get home at the end of the day I can't even look myself in the mirror because I install that crap in peoples' homes. Of course, I also have to tell folks that their new MX 350 is a relaible, state of the art control solution. FML.

I hate to say it but the Integra DTR5.9 was our worst product last year. Of the 20 or so we sold, I'd say 5+ of them went back to service. The video processor on these bad boys is a POS.

Well, I'm no longer technically a dealer but, up through September, I'd say the worst product I worked with was Charmed Quark. As much as I love it (and I also picked it as my entry in the Best of 2009 thread), it is a lot of work to one, get up to speed (sorry Dean but, I so strongly dislike the documentation which makes far too many assumptions in my opinion) and two, it's really difficult to replicate systems/"programming" repeatably.
