Hi,

I am looking for someone to install an IR emitter in my Tosiba big screen TV.

If you are interested in doing this for me, please email me at [email protected]

Thanks!

I hate to say this but...

Unless you're willing to spend a couple of hundred dollars it wouldn't be worth someone's time to come down to help. By the time the installer goes there, sets up, and does his stuff he would have already spent a couple of hours and possibly the rest of the day would be frittered away.

What remote system are you using? THe only real reason to take the TV apart is if your are using a RF Only system such as Crestron or AMX.. If your using a Pronto based remote or a MX-800, you can set the TV commands to be blasted IR instead of RF. I do this with most of my "RF" systems as it saves a lot of money for the client and doesnt cause any issues.

For what its worth, the Toshibas come apart pretty easy..... Which model is it? Perhaps someone could give you an idea if the screen needs to come off, or if the IR is accesable from one of the removeable panels behind the speaker Grill

Hi Impaqt,

The model number of my Toshiba is 53HX71. There is a Niles Intellicontrol system installed on it with a stick emitter sitting just above it for IR. I want to get rid of the stick emitter. It was put there so as not to void the warranty. Sinc4e the TV is now out of warranty so I want an IR emitter installed inside the TV.

If you can advise on how to do it myself and where the location of the IR emitter is inside, I would gladly give it a shot.

To the other guy who was talking dollars out there, I did not ask what it was going to cost, I was simply asking if there was anyone locally available to do the work.

You could try Howell and Associates (very helpful -although they are in Burlington). Also, there are a number of others who may be able to help. I don't know of anybody East of the City but you could try Canadian Sound (very helpful but in Brampton) and Bay Bloor Radio should also be able to help. You could also try Brack TV downtown but I've found them snobbish if you have your own opinion on something.

A quick web search will bring up telephone numbers.
