What is your need for a Z090? Are you repairing a job that was bumbled by another co. and this is a one only project, or is this personal for your own home system?

I am looking for a Z 90 for my own use. Is this crazy? Will I ever need this thing more then once. And what if I ad a Via touch pad in the future, is this a different programer? I have a dealer that woul do the programing for me, but Im worried that I will not get the functionality I want and will have to go back to him for additional programing.
What are your thoughts?

Thanks.

The Z090 will not program VIA! touchpanels, only Zpads.

Programming the VIA! touchpanels is a lot more involved than programming Zpads. VIA! programming should be done by a qualified technician who has manufacturer support.

As far as programming your own Zpads, if you only plan to program a couple of keypads for yourself, I would have a dealer do it. Explain to the dealer exactly what components you have, and how you would like to control them. With that information, the dealer should be able to set you up with little or no tweeking.

You could also have the dealer save your file to disk so that if you do need to change the programming at any time, any Elan dealer could make the changes easily.

Hope that helps,

JJP

I will only have three key pads at first and plan to have 2nd 630 added in the future. So if we can back up the program onto a disk I guess adding additional key pad is not alot of work. Is it possable to just purchase the key pads and program them from the back up? Is so the $500.00 to $600.00 investment does not make sence.

It looks like I had better make some note on the functions I will need to control from the KP's.

Thanks.

Get a VIA! progarammer if you are going to buy anything. It will program your Z-pads and your VIA!panel in the future.

You would still need the programmer to make changes or add new keypads. The only reason to have a backup file, is to make it easy to make changes, or load the file into new keypads. Otherwise you would have to start from scratch again.

E-mail me a list of equipment that you have, what locations the keypads are in, what other subzones you have, how would would like the control to work, and any other info you might think pertinent.
