Like we all haven't been through this. Yesterday, I'm driving my wifes car on my way to pick up a a/v receiver for a customer and get into a 4 car pile up. Everybody's okay but all of the cars are totaled. So, as the night goes on my neck starts to get a little stiffer and stiffer. So I decide I'just stay home and work from the house. About 3:00 my lead installer calls and says."Can you send somebody to pick me up the van is dead "engine seized up". It's a 98 Windstar Cargo Van with 270,000 miles. So I can't be to upset. I send a guy to go get him. Literally, 10 minutes later another installer calls me and says "My van won't shift gears I think there is something wrong with the transmission." I just bought this Astro from the auction about a month ago. I'm sitting here thinking. Who's dog did I kick. I'm sure somebody has got something out there to beat that.

I DID drop my Cell phone in the outhouse once, with a freshly charged battery....

IT was kinda funny to see that thing rocking for the next two days when someone was in there and the damn phone starting burbling in the drink!

Actually, either that phone was highly water-resistant (bought another which did appear to be) or it never hit bottom...either way, I didn't investigate to closely...

sorry guys...got alittle gross there, my bad!

The only thing that would make the outhouse story funnier if it was a NEXTEL. I can imagine somebody sitting down on the seat and hearing. "Are you there?" Huh?, who was that? I'm trying to take a crap in here leave me alone!"

SO yours actually fell... I once made the quickest grab of my life at just about seat height and saved mine from that fate.

As far as the vans... that sucks. My partner made me forego my normally frugal nature and spend extra money on newer ones... even though we have to make payments, nothing has happened yet (knock on wood).

I did have a van break down once with 28 sheets of 12' 5/8" sheetrock in it while a crew was waiting (hey dumbs--t... Home Depot delivers such a load for $25.00). Had to use my buddys pickup and take a few sheets at a time... took all bloody day.

Yeah, I actually looked into leasing vehicles from BizFleet.com, they have a program set up for guys like us. Unlimited miles, they will install bins, shelves, ladder racks, but they are too expensive. They wanted $541.00 per month for a Astro cargo van. What do you guys do for your vans? We drive about 50,000 miles per year in each van, so its not feasible to purchase new vans, the lease is outrageous(I thought). So I guess it's back to the auction. I would rather pay $1,500 to $2,000 per van and replace it every 6 months to a year than pay over $500.00 a month.

I was coming home one night from manning our display at "the Street of Dreams" when things got a little hot. On the way I stopped at the gas station to fill up and as I pulled onto the main road, smoke started coming out of my driver side dash board. I quickly shut off the engine as I thought it was some dash electrical problem. Within seconds it was gushing out dark smoke. I then opened the hood ,disconnected the battery as I watched flames starting to come out of the dash. In no time at all, the dash was on fire and within minutes the entire interior was engulfed in flames. Even before the fire dept got there the windows popped out and 20 foot flames lit up the neighborhood. The van , most of my tools and my presentation binders and samples where history. Hell of a way to get new tools and update presentation stuff!

Great story on the radio this morning dealing with this exact subject.

Seems a guy was driving home when a moose ran out in front of him, didn't have time to stop and ran into the moose. Totaled the mini van and the moose.

Later that day as he was driving his pickup home from the hospital (don't know how he got the pickup?), another moose runs out in front of him and takes out the pickup.

The moral being no matter how bad your day seems to be going, it can always get worse no matter what the odds.

So the next time nothing goes right, I'll be using the term, "It's a 2 moose day."

(PS, Talk about your sh*ty cell service)
