hard buttons work, touch panel overlay seems to be dead.

any common fixes for this? Are new touch screens available from anywhere? I do all of my own repair work, so I'm looking for a parts source if anybody knows of one.

thanks,
Matt

We use a company called service-wide to repair any Marantz remotes. P.S. Why are you using a non-ovation approved remote?

I have to bring this back to life. I have been searching for an hour and this is the most accurate description of my problem.

My hard buttons work fine but the touch screen doesn't work at all. I have updated the firmware 4 times and the ccf 4 times as well. Any idea on what else I can do? Is this a common problem for these?

I am just not a happy camper right now. :(

Assuming you can still see all of your buttons on the LCD but can't access them, it sounds like the touch overlay has gone bad. If this is the case then you need to just send the remote to marantz and have them replace the screen for you. I don't know what they charge but Philips charges $119 to replace the screen and ship it back to you. You have to pay shipping to get it there.

ACtually, with the Marantz 3 Year warranty, Unless you purchased one of the first ones, it should still under warranty.

Thanks for the replies guys. I called Marantz and they said it would be under warranty as I bought it in July of 02. I just can't find my receipt!!!

Don't remember for sure, but I don't believe the RC-5200 has been out for 3 years. Maybe close.
