what i mean by this is one box. with 6 or 8 speaker level ins and outs. Like the Niles table top but with 6 or 8 vc's

so essentially 6 or 8 regular volume controls in one box. I know speaker selectors have one in with like 6 or so outs but we only know how to throw speaker selectors in the garbage not install them :)

thanks so much..

Sounds like a possible design flaw but I will play along:

Try

2 x Middle Atlantic 1 space 4 slot decora
8 x volume controls
1 x basic rack shelf

better yet

AutoPatch 8x8 analog audio with digital VC
16 Channel amp
Control system

Audioplex makes one that I've used in the past. Six rooms, two amp inputs so you could do two sources.

Sima *may* make one but I'm not so much a Sima fan.

Aton DLA6 is 1 in, 6 out with electronic volume controls, RF control option, music "scene" preset, discrete IR for everything, yadda yadda yadda.

Nice piece.

That is, the same number of inputs as outputs.

I don't think so.

This looks like it's two channels in and six channels out, and the volume control is not obvious from the thirty seconds I spent looking at the illustration. I didn't spend more time because the original poster specified that each volume control would have its own input, although he didn't word it that way.

Hey, OP, what do you think so far of what we've come up with?

ok... well i don't think i am going to need as I am going to build a program with volume control centrally located into a touch panel. rather than try to replace the old home grown 6 VC's in one box.

I think everyone was kind of missing the idea as i had said i wasn't looking for a speaker selector just multiple VC's in one box. Basically it is a system that was about 10-12 years old and what they did was build this home grown thing @ headend with 6 volume controls in it. one for each zone.

well its time to make changes and upgrades and the customer very much likes the volume adjustment centrally located (which I don't)... but that is what they want. As well the majority of the house is stone (on the inside), some kind of plaster, and all walls are "custom" painted/Venetian style plaster. So this one I had to say whynot!

thanks for all the input

Marantz ZS5300 is 3 shared (+ I believe 1 independent source overide) input section with 60watt/chx3zone sterep output, with independant volume and source selection for each pair...upto 3 can be linked using 3 sets of discrete codes. A really cool piece that is highly under utilized (or spec'ed).

Seriously, the Aton DLA6 IS six volume controls in a box.  That's exactly what it is.  Plus you can control it all centrally from a touchpanel with discrete IR for each room.
